GENERAL DUTIES:
Provide technical clerical support for judge in a division; serve in the courtroom; assist in preparing judge's docket; note continuances; administer oath to witnesses and jurors; make minute entries to reflect case progress; contact attorneys and other court personnel to resolve discrepancies discovered in reviewing records; prepare a variety of orders, documents and correspondence for judge, using word processing; prepare various statistical reports; operate sound recording machine; answer inquiries and furnish information to attorneys, court personnel and the general public by telephone and in person; and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum data entry speed of 9,000 keystrokes per hour. High School diploma or equivalent. (The following minimum requirements can also be achieved through any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.) Three years general office/clerical experience, one year must be court or law related; ability to operate standard office machines, including a computer and typewriter; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, office policies and procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to understand complex procedures and determine and prepare material from such procedures; ability to work in an independent fashion, with minimal supervision.

DEFINITION OF WORK
This is technical clerical and supervisory work in a court within the Missouri State Court System.

Work involves one of the following duty assignments: providing direct clerical support for a circuit judge or associate circuit judge in a centralized court discharging the full range of clerical and secretarial responsibilities within the division's jurisdiction, which may include supervision of subordinate clerical personnel; exercising direct supervision over the clerical activities of an associate division which may include supervision of three or fewer subordinate clerical personnel; exercising direct supervision of the clerical activities of a separate probate division which may include supervision of two or fewer subordinate clerical personnel; or performing in a supervisory capacity exercising direct supervision over the clerical activities of a circuit clerk s office consisting of two to four subordinate clerical personnel and assumes responsibility for the office during absence of the circuit clerk. Work is performed under the general supervision of a judge, circuit clerk, higher-level court clerk or unit manager and is reviewed through conferences, reports and on the basis of results obtained.
